Dr. Douglas Ouma is an accomplished International Development Professional and Environmental Management specialist, who mobilizes professionals in Africa and beyond to identify and nurture talents as well as equip young people with skills, knowledge and success mindsets to transform Africa, deliver prosperity and happiness in a single generation. He has more than 27 years’ experience in Systems Diagnosis and Design, Organizational Development and Institutional Strengthening, Process Facilitation, Training, Leadership Development and Management, Coaching and Mentoring, Project Management, Action Research and Environmental Management. Douglas, formerly, Senior Programme Officer at Pact Inc and Pact Kenya (International Development Organizations) designed, implemented and provided technical assistance on capacity development programmes in sub-Saharan Africa (organizational capacity assessment and Institutional Strengthening Plans Development, developed training materials/manuals, delivered trainings, managed multiple programmes across many African countries, facilitated strategic planning sessions, facilitated resource mobilization strategy workshops, conducted program/project monitoring, evaluation and reporting (ME&R) and mentored/coached organizations in implementing organizational changes and individuals on career development and personal effectiveness. The programs include: Institutional Strengthening and Grant Management Programme (ISGM)(April 2000-December 2004); Conservation of Resources through Enterprise (CORE); Sudan Peace Fund (March 2004-December 2005), South Sudan Transition Initiatives (SSTI) January 2004-December 2005), Water for Recovery and Peace Programme (January-December 2005), OMEGA-Disability Programme (January 2004- December 2005) and Capacity Building for CBOs working in HIV/AIDS in Nyanza (January 2004- December 2005), RHAP Southern Africa Region (June-July 2006), Kenya Civil Society Strengthening Programme May-August(February-December 2007). Other programmes include: USAID Kenya National Monitoring and Evaluation Support Programme (March 2008-September 2010), UASID/Africa Lead 1&2 (Transformative Leadership Trainings of Champions for Change; State University of New York’s Centre for International Development/USAID/UKAID/AHADI (Strengthening Devolution in Kenya on Public Expenditure Management-Strategic Planning, Policy Development Process, Public Participation, CIDP Development, Service Delivery Systems Development (January 2018-May 2020); Africa Union –AUC/AUDA NEPAD (CAADP Malabo Declaration Biennial Review Trainings and Reviews 1, 2 and 3 BRs (March 2017-April 2021, Facilitation of CAADP Partners Platform Meetings (May 2017- November 2020); Facilitation of the 2nd and 3rd Biennial Post Harvest Congress(September 2019; September 2021); Darwin/USAID/Nature Kenya: Development of Indigenous Community Conservation Areas Management Plan 2019-2029 for Yala Wetland(March-December 2020); Yala Wetland Land Use Plan & Strategic Environmental Assessment (March 2016 -December 2020); Facilitating Networks(for Advanced Trainers and Facilitators of Champions for Change Facilitators and Trainers in Africa(January 2018-to date December 2021), Youth Champions for Change in Agribusiness in Kenya 21 Counties (October 2019); AWARD Career Development Program for Junior Scientist in Africa; and RAI Mentoring Academy final year students-select mentees in conjunction with School of Environmental Studies, University of Eldoret Kenya where Douglas is adjunct lecturer and researcher.
